Cos’è TokaLab?

TokaLab è un laboratorio virtuale aperto dedicato alla simulazione di tokamak (reattori per la fusione nucleare) e plasmi da fusione.
Nasce per avvicinare studenti e ricercatori alla fisica e ingegneria computazionale attraverso strumenti open-source, esperimenti numerici e attività di formazione collaborativa.

Presso l’Università degli Studi di Roma “Tor Vergata”, gli studenti possono entrare a far parte del Laboratorio Computazionale e persino progettare il proprio tokamak virtuale!

Con il supporto di ricercatori e docenti, potrai:

  • imparare a usare codici di simulazione e strumenti di analisi;
  • sviluppare competenze di programmazione e gestione del progetto;
  • lavorare in gruppo su un progetto scientifico reale.

Devo conoscere già la fusione nucleare? Devo aver seguito corsi?

Assolutamente no.
La fusione è un campo che unisce fisica, informatica, ingegneria, matematica e molto altro: chiunque può contribuire.

Se sei curioso di capire come funziona un tokamak, vuoi imparare a usare strumenti computazionali, oppure cerchi un ambiente dove mettere in pratica ciò che hai appreso durante l’università — TokaLab è il posto giusto per te.

What is TokaLab?

TokaLab is an open virtual laboratory dedicated to the simulation of tokamaks (nuclear fusion reactors) and fusion plasmas.
It was created to bring students and researchers closer to computational physics and engineering through open-source tools, numerical experiments, and collaborative learning activities.

At the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, students can join the Computational Laboratory and even design their own virtual tokamak!

With the support of researchers and faculty members, you will be able to:

  • learn to use simulation codes and analysis tools;
  • develop programming and project management skills;
  • work in a team on real scientific projects.

Do I need to know about nuclear fusion or have taken specific courses?

Not at all.
Fusion is a multidisciplinary field that combines physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, and more — anyone can contribute.
